Various Forestry Publications
Anyone with an interest in forestry, which can best be described as the science, or some would say art, of forests or of trees in general, can benefit from reading and familiarizing themselves with various forestry publications. This is especially important for those hoping to pursue a career in the field. Forestry service publications, which include general information pamphlets and leaflets, community outreach brochures, books, and magazines are provided by a number of reputable organizations, such as the USDA Forest Service, USFS, and many others. Currently, the National Association of Conservation Districts also has some great forestry information available to the general public.
Forest publications of any type are a wonderful way to learn more about the industry and to stay abreast of the latest changes and developments in forestry service. Logging magazines and log trucker magazines are also helpful to those involved in the field, though these are often more difficult to come by than more traditional forestry news publications.
The University of Missouri Extension has several online and print forestry service publications that are an excellent place to start. Other publications that may be of interest to individuals wanting to learn more about this topic include The Forestry Source, Forest Products Journal, Forest Science, The Journal of Forestry, Loggers World, Logging and Sawmilling Journal, The Northern Journal of Applied Forestry, Canadian Forest Industries, Pallet Enterprise, Panel World, Paper Industry, Southern Journal of Applied Forestry, Southern Logging Times, TMS Machinery Sales, Timber Processing, Timber Harvesting, Timberline Magazine, Tappi Journal, Tree Farmer Magazine, American Forests Magazine, The Western Journal of Applied Forestry, and The Wildland Firefighter. Some of these sources, of course, are considered more reputable than others, so it’s best to do a bit of research to find the one that is best for each individual’s particular needs and area of interest in the forestry field.
