This year's Conservation Education Program will be to continue the focus on:
The Wildland arson problem that has caused massive problems with Guam’s watersheds
and coral reefs. Focus will be the broadcasting of PSA’s and movie theater ads.
Publications on invasive species and serious pest issues in the native forests and urban
forests.
Develop and publish a policy and standard document for Urban tree plantings for Guam.
Develop and publish a series of brochures and pamphlets for sustainable tree
maintenance in association with Arbor Day activities for the year.
Maintenance of Web site for the Pacific Islands Committee.
Goals:
Enhance the general public, school children and Guam visitors knowledge of the environment by producing up to the minute brochures, flyers and posters.
Provide learning materials to the community and schools for use during presentations.
Develop and distribute tree care and maintenance brochures for Arbor activities for the year.
Objectives:
Sustainability of natural and cultural resources in forest, grassland and aquatic ecosystems by producing local educational materials.
Awareness and understanding of inter-relationships in natural systems and between
people and the land or sea.
Tree care and maintenance for urban trees and urban communities.
