Forestry Conservation Education

Forest education has become a quite big thing over the last few years as people started paying more and more attention to the environment and its protection. Forestry in particular has emerged as a science that was aimed to counteract the massive deforestation that occurred few decades ago and tried to replace the old practice with new sustainable forest management plans and education to teach individuals why forests are so important for the planet and for each one of us as well.

By the time people started carrying more and more about the environment and implicitly forests, forest education has been inserted into various colleges and universities school program. This meant that individuals enthusiast about protecting and conserving the forests in America but also worldwide could follow university courses on forest conservation and forest management at the same time. There are many universities in the United States and in other countries that offer students the possibility to study about forest conservation and get involved in a movement that could save the planet.

These university courses are usually based on several years of teaching about the ecosystem and the role that forests have in the ecosystem. Students may specialize in different areas such as forestry laws or they could choose to do urban forestry. One should not however confuse forestry education which involves different management techniques and laws aimed at better conserving and managing forests with silviculture. Forestry is more about the ways in which forests blend into and impact the human environment, whereas silviculture is the science that studies everything there is to know about trees disregarding the interconnection with human beings.

Forest education has certainly increased in popularity as more and more individuals start to realize that forests are important and their protection and conservation has become a concern among policymakers.
